Dr. Huawu HE, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
He Huawu, Professor-level Senior Engineer, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is currently Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice-President of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology. Mr. He Huawu is one of the founders and main promoters of China's high-speed railway. He has been engaged in research and application of railway transportation, engineering and high-speed railway innovation. He has been responsible for the investigation, design, operation test and system integration of the main high-speed railway, railway mainline and railway junction in China. He has made major achievements for the development and application of key technologies and major equipment with high smoothness and stability in high-speed railway. He has also made major achievements in the theory and technology of GTC(Ground Transportation Center), as well as the construction of China's high-speed railway technical standard system. Many key international project system solutions have been presided over by him. He also won the Special Category of China National Science and Technology Progress Award, Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, as well as Zhan Tianyou Prize and several other awards.
Prof. Jun ZHANG, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of Beijing Institute of Technology
Prof. Jun Zhang is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the President of Beijing Institute of Technology, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
Prof. Zhang’s major research interests are integrated space-air-ground network, aeronautical navigation and surveillance, as well as air traffic management. In recent years, he has been the leading principle investigator for more than 20 national projects, funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovation Research Group Project, the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), the National High-tech Research & Development Program of China (863 Program), as well as the Development of Major Scientific Instruments and Equipment of the State. He pioneered the development of China’s next generation air traffic service platform and satellite-based air route operation monitoring equipment. Prof. Zhang has won several state-level first-class awards, including the prestigious State Technological Invention award and State Science and Technology Progress award. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, and two textbooks on “Modern Air Traffic Management” and “New Technologies for Airspace Surveillance in Air-Ground Collaboration”.
Currently, Prof. Zhang also serves as the Director of National Engineering Laboratory for Integrated Transportation Big Data, and the Director of National Key Laboratory of CNS/ATM.
Dr. Peter NEWMAN, Professor, Curtin University in Perth, Australia.
Peter Newman is the Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. He has written 20 books and over 340 papers on sustainable cities. In 2014 he was awarded an Order of Australia for his contributions to urban design and sustainable transport. Peter has worked in local government as an elected councilor, in state government as an advisor to three Premiers and in the Australian Government on the Board of Infrastructure Australia and the Prime Minister’s Cities Reference Group. He is a Co-ordinating Lead Author for the IPCC on Transport and his latest book is Resilient Cities: Overcoming Fossil Fuel Dependence. He is Editor-in-Chief of Sustainable Earth, a new Nature journal and in 2018 was made WA Scientist of the Year.
Bin RAN, PhD, Professor, University of Wisconsin – Madison
Dr. Bin Ran is the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Director of ITS Program at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Dr. Ran also serves as the Dean of the Joint Research Institute on Internet of Mobility, founded by Southeast University, China and University of Wisconsin at Madison. He served as the 1st Director of the Traffic Operations and Safety Lab (TOPS) at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Dr. Ran is an international expert in dynamic transportation network models, traffic simulation and control, traffic information system, Internet of Mobility, and Connected Automated Vehicle Highway (CAVH) System. He serves as the Chair of the Working Committee on Automated Driving of China Highway & Transportation Society. He is the Founding President of Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) from 1996 to 1998.
Dr. Binyam REJA, Practice Manager for Transport Global Practice, World Bank
Dr. Binyam Reja is the Practice Manager for Transport Global Practice based at the World Bank Office in Beijing, China. Dr. Reja oversees the Bank’s transport lending program totaling US$8 billion for China, Mongolia, and Central Asia covering all sub-sectors, including urban transport, BRT, metros, highways, railways, intermodal freight transportation and logistics. In his capacity as Practice Manger, Dr. Reja leads a team of technical professionals and analyst based in Washington, Beijing, Singapore, and the various Country Offices in Central Asia in the delivery of a large and diversified lending portfolio, an active knowledge exchange program, and technical assistance program to client government agencies. Before moving to China in 2012, Dr. Reja was based in the World Bank Headquarters Office in Washington where he managed projects and technical assistance program in various client countries in South Asia and Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Irvine, and attended the Executive Education program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
